Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted one ballistic missile and 81 drones during Russian attacks on Ukraine that began on the evening of January 6. This information was shared by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.
Starting from 18:00 on January 6, the enemy launched a ballistic missile "Iskander-M" from Taganrog, alongside 95 strike drones including Shahed, "Herbera", and other types from directions: Primorsk-Akhtarsk, Orel (Russia), Hvardiyiske (temporarily occupied Crimea), and temporarily occupied Donetsk. Approximately 60 of these were Shahed drones.
The air assault was countered by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
As of 07:30 on January 7, preliminary data indicates that the air defense shot down/neutralized one ballistic missile and 81 drones in northern, central, and eastern Ukraine.
There were 14 strikes by attack drones recorded at 8 locations, and debris from downed drones was found at 5 locations.
The attack continues, with several enemy drones still in the airspace.
Throughout the day, the Russians launched 682 strikes on 24 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to nine others.
