In the night of October 19, the Ukrainian defense forces targeted oil refining and gas processing plants in the Samara and Orenburg regions of the Russian Federation, along with a fuel supply base in the temporarily occupied Berdyansk in the Zaporizhzhia region. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on their Facebook page.
In the Samara region, the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery was hit. Preliminary reports indicate that primary oil processing units (ELOU AVT) were damaged at the facility. Explosions were reported on site, and a significant fire was observed.
The Novokuybyshevsk refinery produces over 20 types of products, with an annual processing capacity of 4.9 million tons.
“The extent of the damages is being assessed. The facility plays a crucial role in supporting the needs of the Russian army,” the General Staff informed.
Another target was the Orenburg gas processing plant, one of the largest in Russia, capable of processing up to 45 billion cubic meters of natural gas and 6.2 million tons of gas condensate per year.
It has been preliminarily established that one of the gas processing and purification units at the Orenburg plant was damaged, with explosions and a large fire reported. Regarding the fuel supply base in Berdyansk, there is information about explosions in the area and a fire at the site.
