In the Pokrovsk region of Donetsk, Ukrainian forces have advanced in certain sectors by up to 1.6 kilometers, reported the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
«Despite the enemy's unsuccessful attempts to advance, our troops conducted search and destroy operations against the enemy over an area of 3.4 square kilometers in the Pokrovsk region of Donetsk Oblast during the past day. Assault units have advanced by up to 1.6 kilometers», he stated in his Facebook post.
According to Syrskyi, as of the morning of October 13, a total of 182.4 square kilometers of territory has been liberated during the Dobropillia operation, with 224.7 square kilometers – «cleared of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups».
According to British intelligence observations released in September, Pokrovsk remains a key logistical hub for Russian offensive operations in Donetsk. It hinders the further advancement of Russian forces deeper into Donetsk Oblast and towards Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
On October 1, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that Ukrainian forces had cut through the so-called «Dobropillia salient» of Russian troops.
