During the night of August 28, Kyiv faced new attacks from Russia, damaging the European Union Representation.
This was confirmed by Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, who shared photos on social media.
«Today's strikes on civilian areas in Kyiv have harmed our Representation. I strongly condemn these barbaric actions, as they clearly indicate that Russia has chosen the path of terror instead of peace», she stated.
«We express our full solidarity with EU staff, their families, and all Ukrainians suffering from this aggression», Kos added.
President of the EU Council, António Costa, responded by stating that «Russia's aggression will not intimidate the EU».
«These actions only strengthen our resolve to support Ukraine and its people», he wrote, extending his condolences to the victims' families and the EU Representation staff.
Katarina Maternova, head of the EU Representation in Ukraine, also commented on the situation, stating that the Russian strike is «a true response from Moscow to our peaceful efforts».
«Last night we witnessed aggression: a massive attack of drones and ballistic missiles on Kyiv. At least 10 people were killed, 30 injured, and many buildings destroyed. The EU Representation was severely damaged. This is a true response from Moscow to our peace initiatives», Maternova emphasized.
