Today marks the initiation of a new phase in the prisoner exchange program, where Ukraine is bringing back severely injured defenders.

Under the agreements reached in Istanbul, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, authorized by the President of Ukraine, has returned a group of defenders who suffered serious injuries and have severe health issues.

The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have returned home, including representatives from the Navy, Ground Forces, Territorial Defense, Airborne Assault, Special Operations Forces, Border Service, and National Guard.

Among those freed today are defenders of Mariupol, who spent over three years in captivity. The release also included officers along with soldiers and sergeants.

All freed defenders are suffering from severe injuries and illnesses: amputated limbs, vision problems, abscesses, infections, shrapnel wounds, and chronic diseases. Some have been diagnosed with hepatitis and tuberculosis.

The returned defenders will be transported to medical centers for necessary examinations and will be directed for further treatment and rehabilitation. They will receive the required assistance, have their documents restored, and will be compensated for their time in captivity.

The large-scale prisoner exchange continues. For security reasons, the exact number of released individuals will be announced after the completion of the exchange process.

The Coordination Headquarters continues its work, and the next stage of releasing Ukrainian captives will be carried out soon.

We are working to bring everyone back!

Glory to Ukraine!
