The forum of practical psychologists «Mental Health in Education» gathered over 500 specialists, including psychologists working in educational institutions and representatives from local education departments. This was announced by Petro Olenych, Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, during the forum's opening in Kyiv.
«Within our project, we focus on crisis response teams that conduct numerous visits and online consultations, as well as organize training sessions for thousands of teachers. Together with the Kyiv team, we continue to enhance digital services in the field of mental health», – noted Olenych.
The psychosocial support forum within the education system is part of a joint project between the city authorities and the Klitschko Foundation.
«The project «Mental Health in Education» is a vivid example of effective collaboration between a charitable organization and city authorities, which allows us to truly assist the capital's community. The full-scale war has posed a serious challenge for our children, who need to adapt to a troubling present. Our Foundation's mission is to support them and give hope for a better future. Overcoming crises with the involvement of psychologists and teachers, who are always close to their students, is the best strategy for this task. In just six months, 2500 teachers have completed training in the «Mental Health in Education» program. I hope Kyiv can serve as a model for other regions in this experience», – emphasized Angelina Osadcha, Director of the Klitschko Foundation.
The forum is just one part of the larger project «Mental Health in Education». It involves rapid psychological support groups that respond quickly to schools in cases of conflicts or emergencies. In just one month of operation, the psychological mobile groups made 20 visits, with most requests for help arising from shelling of the capital.
It should be noted that the project «Mental Health in Education» started in April 2024 and is being implemented in cooperation with the Klitschko Foundation and the Department of Education and Science of the Kyiv City State Administration.
