A young athlete from Lviv, Regina Abramova, has made headlines by setting a new Ukrainian record previously held only in the adult category for the "Longest hold in the 'vertical inverted hang on rings' position".
Her record time of 5 minutes and 52 seconds was reported by Lana Vetrovа, head of the National Registry of Records of Ukraine.
"It is believed that this exercise is technically quite challenging for children, requiring not only excellent physical conditioning but also a strong sporting character. Yet, we know that records are set by those who dare to achieve the impossible," Vetrovа noted.
Regina began practicing gymnastics at the age of 4. She has already completed the 2nd youth category program and is preparing for the 1st.
The girl trains 6 days a week for 5-6 hours each day.
"As her coach told me, while other children run home after gymnastics, Regina always tries to practice a bit longer. If she struggles with any exercise, she won't leave the gym until she achieves her goal," the head of the National Registry shared.
According to the Lviv Regional State Administration, at the age of 2.5, Regina also started running. Currently, she is a participant and prizewinner in over 15 competitions.
It is worth mentioning that in the Kyiv region, a 7-year-old boy with Down syndrome set a Ukrainian swimming record, completing 50 meters in less than 3 minutes.
