Today, March 8, the final of the European Indoor Athletics Championships took place, where Ukrainian athlete Oleg Doroshchuk claimed the gold medal by clearing a height of 2.34 meters.
This marks the first gold medal for Ukraine in the history of the European Championships in indoor high jump. Oleg also set a new personal best, surpassing his previous record of 2.32 meters.
His compatriot Dmytro Nikitin finished in 5th place with a height of 2.26 meters.
The silver medal went to Czech athlete Jan Štefela, who jumped 2.29 meters, while Italian Matteo Sioli secured the bronze with a matching height of 2.29. However, the Czech athlete had fewer attempts.

It is worth noting that in the qualification round, athletes cleared a bar set at 2.23 meters, while Vadym Kravchuk did not qualify for the final.
This was Doroshchuk's first final appearance at the European Indoor Athletics Championships, while Nikitin was competing for medals for the second time, having previously finished 5th in 2021 with a jump of 2.23 meters.
As a reminder, yesterday Yaroslav Maguchikh qualified for the women's high jump final, achieving a remarkable result in the qualification round.
