The 2025/2026 Ukrainian Hockey Championship has recently commenced. This season, five teams are participating, with two of them hailing from Kyiv. The list of participants is as follows:
- HC «Kremenchuk» (Kremenchuk, Poltava region)
- HC «Sokil» (Kyiv)
- HC «Kryzhynka-Capitals» (Kyiv)
- HC «Storm» (Odesa)
- HC «Odeshchyna» (Odesa)
Compared to the previous season, there are some notable changes. Unfortunately, the Kherson team «Dnipro» is not participating this time, but a new team — HC «Odeshchyna» has emerged. An interesting situation exists with the Kyiv vice-champion club «Kyiv Capitals». With the approval of the UHF, the club has entered its main team in the Baltic Hockey League (an international league that unites clubs from Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia, now also including Ukraine). In the Ukrainian Championship, the farm team «Kryzhynka-Capitals» remains, consisting of young players and those not making it to the first team.
Thus, Kyiv's «Sokil» played its first match against Odesa's «Storm» and achieved a comeback victory, after being down by two goals during the game.
«SOKIL» — «STORM» — 3:2 (0:1, 1:1, 2:0)
«KREMENCHUK» — «KRYZHYNKA-CAPITALS» — 6:1 (4:0; 0:1; 2:0)
«Kryzhynka-Capitals» will play their next match on Wednesday, October 15, against «Storm». «Sokil» will face «Odeshchyna» the following day.
