In the war against Russian aggressors, a well-known Ukrainian athlete, four-time champion of the country in strongman competitions, Pavlo Ishchenko, has died. This was reported by Sport.ua.
«A sad news has once again resonated in the sports community. While fulfilling a combat mission on the front lines, the four-time champion of Ukraine in strongman competitions and record holder Pavlo Ishchenko perished,» the message states.
The athlete hails from Hostomel in the Kyiv region. Before becoming a strongman, Pavlo was a world and European champion and a multiple champion of Ukraine in powerlifting.
Ishchenko combined his competitive career with coaching. He became the strongest in Ukraine in strongman competitions during the full-scale war in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
