We celebrate the first Ukrainian award at the World Wrestling Championship taking place in Croatia! Maria Vynnyk has claimed silver in the 59 kg weight category.
The 23-year-old wrestler started her medal journey by defeating European vice-champion Erika Bognar from Hungary, followed by a win against world and European championship medalist, Norway's Otele Hoye, advancing to the semi-finals. In the semi-final, Maria triumphed over three-time Pan-American champion from Canada, Laurence Boregard. Unfortunately, in the gold medal match, the Ukrainian wrestler lost to Asian champion and U20 world champion Sakura Onishi from Japan, with a score of 8:17.
We congratulate our silver medalist and the entire coaching team! Let's continue supporting our Ukrainian wrestlers in Zagreb. The championship will run until September 21.
