From September 11 to 14, the annual FIA World Championship took place in Kristianstad, Sweden, at the legendary Åsum Ring — one of the most significant events in the karting world.
The Department of Youth and Sports of the Kyiv City State Administration reported the success.
The strongest racers from 45 countries and 5 continents competed in the OK-Junior and OK-Senior classes. Representing Ukraine was Lev Krutogolov, who participated in his first season in the adult OK-Senior class with the Italian team Energy Corse (where Lando Norris, George Russell, Alex Albon, and Kimi Antonelli began their careers).
In the semi-finals under the rain, Lev put on a true show: he caught up to the leader on the final lap and executed a spectacular overtaking maneuver, earning cheers from the crowd.
In the final, despite losing positions at the start, he managed to fight back and confidently finished in third place, making history as the first Ukrainian to step onto the podium at a world karting championship!
This was Lev's best race of his career, and soon he will represent Ukraine at the FIA awards ceremony in Paris, where he will meet the strongest drivers in the world, including top competitors from Formula 1, WRC, and WEC.
