Using sheer strength, he managed to cover 62 kilometers, nearly double the direct distance.

Oleg Ivanenko, a resident of Brovary who uses a wheelchair, achieved an extraordinary feat — he swam across the English Channel on his back, setting a new world record.

This was reported by the group «Ukrainian Sport TV».

The swim lasted for 18 hours. Due to strong currents and winds, Oleg had to swim not in a straight line, but at angles, significantly increasing the route's length. As night approached, the air temperature dropped to +12°C, strong winds and waves rose, but this did not deter the brave Ukrainian.

«Friends! Congratulations on our shared victory! We have a world record! The Channel is conquered! And you could say even twice,» Oleg Ivanenko wrote, addressing his supporters.

He thanked everyone for the support that gave him strength and emphasized that this victory was achieved together. Furthermore, throughout his swim, Oleg was inspired by the Ukrainian flag. This feat is yet another testament to the indomitable spirit of Ukrainians.
