Ukrainian Paddlers Compete at World Championships

Ukrainian paddlers have kicked off their journey at the World Canoeing Championships, achieving impressive results.

The Ukrainian paddlers have begun their quest for medals at the World Canoeing Championships taking place in Milan.

At the 2025 ICF CANOE SPRINT & PARACANOE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, Ukraine is represented by 27 athletes across all 24 events.

On August 20, the first day of competition, our paddlers participated in 15 events, with three making it to the finals:

  • Canoe singles, women, 500 m — Lyudmyla Luzan.
  • Canoe doubles, women, 200 m — Lyudmyla Luzan, Iryna Fedoriv.
  • KL2 paracanoe, women, 200 m — Natalia Lahutenko.

Additionally, Ukrainians advanced to the semifinals in 12 other events.

During the morning session on August 21, Ukrainian athletes competed in six heats, qualifying for the semifinals in five:

  • Canoe singles, women, 200 m — Lyudmyla Luzan.
  • Kayak singles, women, 200 m — Ivanna Dyachenko.
  • Kayak singles, men, 500 m — Oleg Kukharik.
  • Canoe doubles, men, 500 m — Taras Mazovskyi, Andriy Rybachok.
  • Kayak doubles, women, 500 m — Diana Rybak, Snizhana Stalynova.
