Ukraine Triumphs Over New Zealand in Friendly Match

The Ukrainian national team played a match in the second round of the friendly tournament Canadian Shield, facing the national team of New Zealand.

The game concluded with a score of 2:1 in favor of Serhiy Rebrov's squad.

The first 15 minutes of the game were quite calm. Rebrov's team struggled to cope with the opponent's pressing despite having possession of the ball.

A dangerous moment arose in the 16th minute. Pikhaliok crossed, Hutsulyak won the aerial duel and shot, but goalkeeper Max Krokomb kept the ball out.

The next opportunity came in the 32nd minute. Hutsulyak shot again, but Krokomb denied him for the second time. Kabaiev was first to the rebound, but his shot went over the bar.

In the 54th minute, the "blue and yellows" opened the scoring. Zabarnyi found Kabaiev with a diagonal pass, he laid it off to Hutsulyak, who quickly controlled the ball and scored in the near corner.

Shortly after, the Oceania representative equalized. After a corner kick, Boxall won the tussle and headed it down to Stamenich, who scored from close range.

In the 74th minute, Oleksandr Zinchenko came on, and just a minute later, the Arsenal player scored. Oleksandr Martyniuk, making his debut for the national team, provided the assist.

In the closing minutes, Darren Beazley brought on New Zealand's star player Chris Wood, but even the experienced striker couldn't save the future participant of the 2026 World Cup.
