Ukrainian Swimmers Shine at International Swimming Series Stage in Paris

The Ukrainian national para swimming team achieved medals at the sixth stage of the World Series 2025 in Paris.

The Ukrainian national para swimming team participated in the sixth stage of the World Series 2025, held in Paris, a city that hosted the Paralympic Games last year. This was the third stage for our team this season.

During the competition, Ukrainians won six medals: two golds and four bronzes.

The most decorated athlete was Denys Ostapenko, a two-time Paralympic champion, who secured two gold and one bronze medal.

Denys finished first in the 50m backstroke among athletes in classes S1–S5 and also became the champion in the 150m individual medley in classes SM1–SM4. Additionally, he took third place in the 200m freestyle in classes S1–S5 and S14.

Another Ukrainian, Yevhen Bohodai, achieved a bronze double, finishing third in the 100m breaststroke and 50m butterfly.

The fourth bronze was earned by Ihor Nimchenko, a two-time medalist from the 2024 Paralympics, who secured a spot in the top three in the 50m freestyle.

  • "Gold": Denys Ostapenko (50m backstroke, class S1–S5; 150m individual medley, SM1–SM4)
  • "Bronze": Denys Ostapenko (200m freestyle, S1–S5 and S14), Yevhen Bohodai (100m breaststroke, SB4–SB9, SB11–SB14; 50m butterfly, S2–S7), Ihor Nimchenko (50m freestyle, S1–S14)

In previous stages involving Ukraine – in Lignano Sabbiadoro and Barcelona – the team won eight medals in the main finals (4 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze). Thus, Ukrainians have earned a total of 14 medals this season.
