Officials from the State Bureau of Investigations have launched a preliminary inquiry into the death of a soldier from the State Border Guard Service, who was on duty at the border.

It is noted that on September 2 at approximately 11:00 AM, the body of the border guard was discovered in the village of Rivne in Volyn, with no signs of life. The deceased was found holding his service weapon.

Following a call to the emergency line «102», SBI investigators, along with the National Police, arrived at the scene to conduct initial investigative actions: they examined the site, interviewed witnesses, and confiscated items that could serve as evidence in the criminal proceedings. A forensic medical examination and a weapons examination have also been appointed.

The incident has been preliminarily classified under part 1 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder). Investigators are currently checking all versions, including the possibility of suicide.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
