Mariluise Beck, a prominent German politician and director at the Center for Liberal Modernity, was honored with a commendation from the mayor of Odesa for her tireless humanitarian efforts, support for the people of Odesa during wartime, and contributions to enhancing international cooperation.

She initiated the project for the memorial «Against Forgetting» on Lustdorf Road, a site where over 25,000 people, predominantly Jews and Roma, were burned alive in 1941.

A grant of one million euros was secured for the realization of this project. However, due to the war, the works had to be postponed, and the funds redirected to humanitarian needs in the city.

As a result, Odesa received vital resources, including transport, specialized equipment, generators, medical supplies, and other critical necessities.

The city authorities express their gratitude for the support and hope for the realization of pre-war projects and further collaboration for Odesa's development.
