Brian Fitzpatrick, a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, made an unexpected visit to Ukraine.
This was revealed by President Volodymyr Zelensky in a social media post, as reported by "European Truth".
Zelensky stated that during the meeting with Fitzpatrick, they discussed "efforts to establish a durable peace, the American proposal for a complete and unconditional ceasefire, and security guarantees for Ukraine."
"Fitzpatrick plans to visit the front lines to meet our soldiers. This is invaluable. Thank you for your support!" – Zelensky emphasized.
The congressman did not announce his trip to Ukraine and had not disclosed such plans in recent days. In a video released by Zelensky's press service, he noted that he visited Kyiv after trips to Turkey and Poland.
Last month, Fitzpatrick, along with colleagues, introduced a bipartisan resolution affirming the U.S. position on non-recognition of Russia's claims over occupied Ukrainian territories.
He was also one of the few Republican congressmen who publicly supported Zelensky after Donald Trump referred to him as a "dictator without elections."
