A government delegation from Syria is currently visiting Ukraine.
This was announced by Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga during the opening of the IV International Summit on Food Security titled «Food from Ukraine».
Sybiga reminded that he was the first European foreign minister to visit Syria following the regime change in the country.
«I am pleased to welcome the delegation from Syria, which includes government officials and dignitaries. This visit is an important step forward in our cooperation. We are always ready to assist with food aid to those in need,» emphasized the minister.
He also recalled the free food supplies sent to Syria with the support of the UK, Germany, Norway, and other international organizations, assuring that this practice will continue.
It is worth noting that President Volodymyr Zelensky, during negotiations in New York with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, announced the signing of a Joint Communiqué on the restoration of diplomatic relations. In December 2024, Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval stated that Ukraine is prepared to continue supplying food to Syria following the regime change.
