Thanks to the efforts of a Latvian charity, Ukrainian military forces will receive a new surface drone named FOG. This drone, funded by donations from local citizens and businesses, will significantly enhance the capabilities of Ukraine's defenders, reported the Latvian public broadcaster LSM.lv.
The drone, developed by NEWT21, will be delivered to Ukraine after the charity Ziedot.lv raised approximately 100,000 euros, having previously provided a similar unmanned vehicle.
The FOG drone can operate autonomously or under remote control. Ukrainian military personnel were trained on the use of this drone at the end of 2025.
"This marine drone has successfully covered 100 kilometers at sea in test mode and can reach distances of up to 700 kilometers," quoted NEWT21's representative Janis Garisons on the LSM.lv website.
This is the second drone that Ziedot.lv has sent to Ukraine. According to project leader Ruta Dimanta, in 2026, the organization plans to deliver military aid worth at least 100,000 euros every month.
The FOG drone, made from carbon and aramid fibers, can carry a payload of up to 200 kilograms. Its length is 4.5 meters, width is 1.5 meters, and it can reach speeds of up to 78 kilometers per hour. The drone can also be equipped with additional sensors and combat payloads.
Earlier reports indicated that Latvia tested a new low-cost missile for intercepting strike and reconnaissance drones.
