A baby from Ivano-Frankivsk, born with a congenital lip and palate anomaly, underwent a complex surgery involving medical professionals from various countries. This was reported by the Children's Medicine Center.
«The child was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate type 3. At four months old, the baby underwent the first operation — a simultaneous cheiloplasty for the bilateral cleft lip, carried out in collaboration with Professor DrHakan Ağır at our Children's Medicine Center. The results are already impressive, with more treatment stages to come. Besides our center’s medical team, specialists from different cities and countries joined the project,» the statement reads.
This clinical case received recognition at the 10th International Orthodontic Congress in Rio de Janeiro, where it was awarded as the best clinical case in the world.
«This is a serious pathology that requires comprehensive and team-based treatment. The family sought our consultation during pregnancy, and preparations for surgery began in the first days of the child's life,» said pediatric and plastic surgeon Orest Leshnevsky.
3D scanning was performed in Ivano-Frankivsk, and individual NAM plates were printed in Turkey, which helped prepare the child for surgery. For three months, the parents diligently cared for the plates, attended check-ups, and supported each stage of preparation.
«To deliver them to Ukraine, our doctors organized a complex international logistics operation — a true «medical special operation,» the Children's Medicine Center added.
This story vividly demonstrates that modern treatment of complex congenital pathologies is only possible through a multidisciplinary approach, international cooperation, and immense human warmth.
