In the latter half of October, Ukrainian media might see an increase in campaigns regarding «Ukraine's readiness for winter» and the discrediting of EU sanctions. This warning comes from analysts at the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Amid attacks on energy infrastructure, Russia is likely to spread alarming messages about an alleged dire state of energy supply and heating in Ukraine.
Moreover, an intensification of propaganda concerning the 20th package of EU sanctions is expected. Kremlin media will traditionally attempt to undermine both the sanctions themselves and the mechanisms of transatlantic coordination, pushing narratives about «ineffectiveness of sanctions» and provoking discord within the European Union.
Separately, the Center predicts a wave of manipulations and fake news surrounding the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, speculation about «militarization of Europe», as well as attempts to discredit EU decisions regarding the downing of Russian planes and drones, which may also influence elections in the Netherlands.
Experts urge users to carefully verify information sources and avoid spreading unverified reports.
