The Coordination Council of the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster discussed current challenges in the labor market and potential solutions through scientific and educational capacities. This was reported by the communal research institution «Kyiv Research Institute of Socio-Economic Development» («NDIRoM»).
«The capital's labor market has undergone significant changes due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The unstable security situation, population migration abroad, mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the time needed for the adaptation of internally displaced persons have created a considerable imbalance between supply and demand in the labor market. Therefore, educational institutions, research organizations, and businesses are ready to unite under the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster to develop educational initiatives that will help address the pressing issues of unemployment,» said the director of «NDIRoM», Serhiy Pavlovsky.
He noted that short-term and specialized training programs, retraining, and adaptation to changes in the labor market designed for adults could help reduce the number of unemployed and develop new professional competencies in line with current demands.
The meeting also discussed the need for higher education institutions to participate in innovation fairs, which should become a platform for the commercialization of scientific inventions, startup creation, and partnerships with businesses.
«The presentation of technological developments created in laboratories and innovation centers of universities will promote entrepreneurship and strengthen cooperation between science and government structures. Our goal is to create conditions under which science and education will be key drivers of regional development and improve the quality of life of the community,» emphasized Serhiy Pavlovsky.
Additionally, a memorandum was signed at the meeting to welcome new members to the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster, including the Institute of Metal Physics and the Institute of Cybernetics.
Welcoming the new participants, Serhiy Pavlovsky noted that their inclusion in the cluster enhances its scientific and technical potential and opens new opportunities for implementing interdisciplinary projects, particularly in the fields of digital medicine, urban infrastructure, and smart technologies.
It is worth mentioning that leading higher education institutions such as the Ukrainian State University, Kyiv School of Economics, and others are part of the Kyiv Scientific and Innovation Cluster.
