The Central Railway Station in Kyiv will host an engaging interactive exhibition of rare books featuring works by European thinkers that reference Ukraine.

This was announced by Ukraine WOW.

Six rare books from the 17th and 18th centuries will be showcased at the Ukraine WOW exhibition in Kyiv for the first time. Each of these editions serves as an invaluable source of information about Ukraine during those times, covering military affairs, daily life, education, culture, and religion.

Excerpts from the ancient texts have been voiced by prominent figures such as Taras Chmut, writer and military figure Serhiy Zhadan, Andriy Luzan, volunteer Serhiy Sternenko, traveler Anton Ptushkin, and historian Timothy Snyder. Their voices bring to life the writings of engineer and cartographer Guillaume Le Vasseur de Beauplan (1651), philosopher Voltaire (1731), diplomat Pierre Chevalier (1663), traveler Joseph Marshall (1772), historian Johann Herbinius (1675), and mathematician and cartographer Andreas Cellarius (1659).

The project consultant was Valentina Bochkowska, director of the Museum of Book and Printing of Ukraine.

The original editions for the exhibition were provided by the National Library of Ukraine named after Vernadsky and private collectors.

The exhibition will be open from September 26, allowing visitors to see the rare books and listen to excerpts from them.

The exhibition has been created by the public organization Ukraine WOW in collaboration with JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia.” Key project partners include the strategic partner of the public organization Ukraine WOW, the “Aurora” chain of multi-markets, the largest marketplace in the country, ROZETKA, and Visa.

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to support the National Library of Ukraine named after Vernadsky, the Museum of Archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Cherkasy City Archaeological Museum of the Middle Dnieper, the National Museum of History of Ukraine, and the Chernihiv Regional Historical Museum named after V. V. Tarnovsky.

The exhibition will run from September 26 to November 9 at the Kyiv Central Railway Station on platform 14.
