American performer Jonathan Lindell Kirk, known professionally as DaBaby, has dedicated a song to Ukrainian refugee Irina Zarutska, who was killed in the United States.
This was reported by The New York Post.
The musical track titled «Save Me» has already garnered over 280,000 views in less than a day.
The video partially reenacts the murder of the Ukrainian woman but with a different outcome. In a dramatic twist, the rapper grabs the assailant's hand, preventing the murder from occurring.
The video concludes with a screenshot of the GoFundMe page. A link to this page is also included in the YouTube video description.
The GoFundMe page titled «In Memory of Irina» was established by her family and has raised over $434,500.
It is noted that the video was released just days after a touching clip of Zarutska enjoying life—drinking, swimming, playing cards, and spending time with her boyfriend—captivated many online users.
As reported by Ukrinform, 23-year-old Irina Zarutska arrived in the U.S. as a refugee seeking safety, but was murdered in late August at a train station in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Authorities have identified the murderer as 34-year-old homeless man Dekarlos Brown.
Court documents reveal that Brown has a history of multiple arrests since 2011 for theft, armed robbery, and threats.
The U.S. Department of Justice is officially seeking the death penalty for the assailant.
