In the capital of Ukraine, a significant mural honoring Ukrainian rescuers was unveiled at the Central Bus Station. This event took place just before the celebration of Rescuer's Day, which is annually observed on September 17.
The mural was created by artist Diana Sorokina.
She has already completed over a hundred murals in various cities across the country.
This new artwork blends urban aesthetics with themes of heroism and helping others, aiming not just to beautify the urban space but also to highlight the vital role of rescuers in the daily lives of Ukrainians.
Diana Sorokina expressed that this mural is her tribute to Ukrainian rescuers: “I am very grateful to have been involved in creating this mural. Tomorrow, September 17, is Rescuer's Day. I want to thank you for your courage and strength. I hope you will like what I have depicted on this mural.”
Deputy Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Roman Prymush emphasized that this mural serves as a reminder for every citizen who visits our city to remember the rescuers and to honor all Ukrainian emergency responders who guard the safety of our country.
“In wartime, rescuers are the first to come to aid. They often sacrifice their lives and health. Unfortunately, we have suffered losses — 107 of our emergency responders have died in the line of duty. Many have been injured. Yet, despite all risks, they continue to be the first to help,” he added.
He thanked the leadership of Kyiv Passenger Service for their support and for the opportunity to immortalize the memory of the rescuers who heroically protect people's lives.
According to Oleg Mishchenko, the head of the board of Kyiv Passenger Service, it is crucial to have such symbolic projects at the Central Bus Station in Kyiv, as the station represents not only travel but also cultural and historical significance.
The State Emergency Service noted that Diana Sorokina captured and reflected the values that are present within the large team of Ukrainian rescuers.
