The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have announced the establishment of a new humanitarian zone in the city of Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip.

This was reported by The Times of Israel.

According to IDF sources, this zone will feature field hospitals, water supply systems, and desalination units.

Additionally, the area will receive supplies of food, medical aid, and tents, coordinated through COGAT in collaboration with the UN and international organizations.

The Israeli military stated that these efforts will continue alongside the expansion of their offensive in northern Gaza.

Furthermore, Israel has urged civilians to evacuate south of Gaza City, where the IDF is working to capture the last strongholds of Hamas and gain full control of the city.

The announcement comes amid warnings from the UN World Food Programme that the Gaza Strip is on the brink of a humanitarian disaster.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) currently control approximately 40% of the territory in Gaza City. On August 10, Israel initiated an offensive operation in Gaza City, aimed at defeating Hamas militants, according to Netanyahu. This campaign has drawn international criticism due to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. A significant portion of Gaza City was destroyed in the initial weeks of the conflict in October-November 2023. Before the war, about one million people lived there, and it is believed that hundreds of thousands have returned to live among the ruins.
