In the last week of August, Ukraine reported 10,622 new COVID-19 cases, with 14 individuals testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 succumbing to the virus.

This was reported by the Center for Public Health on its Facebook page.

“According to routine epidemiological surveillance data from health facilities across all regions of Ukraine, except for Luhansk and Zaporizhia, during the 35th week of 2025 (from August 25 to August 31), the number of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 amounted to 10,622, a 46.2% increase compared to the previous week, which recorded 7,265 cases. There were also 14 fatalities among those who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2,” the statement reads.

The Center for Public Health noted that compared to August of the previous year, August 2025 saw half the number of COVID-19 cases: 45,500 cases in August 2024 versus 22,627 cases in August 2025.

As of August 25, 2025, the results of sequencing positive clinical samples confirmed three cases of infection with the Nimbus subvariant and 125 cases with the Stratus variant.

The Center emphasizes that vaccination remains the most effective way to protect against any variant of COVID-19, and it is offered free of charge in Ukraine.
