In the Transcarpathian region, the first 55 kilometers of a new scenic tourist route have been unveiled, which will eventually connect Ukraine with Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.

This was announced by the head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, Myroslav Biletsky, via social media.

Biletsky's direct quote: "We have opened the first 55 kilometers of a unique tourist route in the Carpathians, which is set to become our hallmark, a place of strength, tourism, and recovery for our soldiers and Ukrainians affected by the war."

The route starts at the source of the Chorna Tysa River near the Okole Pass, where EU representatives planted trees that symbolize our shared river." According to Biletsky, the first section of 395 kilometers planned in Ukraine has been opened, with a similar length expected abroad. The first 55 kilometers of the route feature bike parking, camping areas, lookout points, and rest zones.

Overall, the route will have two main directions:

  • the primary one, which runs through forests and low-traffic roads, close to the mountains and key points, suitable for tourist bicycles
  • the mountain route, which follows the hiking trail and allows for passage on mountain bikes.
