Zbigniew Bogucki, head of the Polish president's office under Karol Nawrocki, denied rumors that the presidential veto on amendments to the aid law for Ukrainians would lead to the shutdown of Starlink in Ukraine.

This information is reported by Radio Liberty.

Bogucki stated that Nawrocki's veto does not disable Starlink, as the expenses are covered under current legislation, and the bill submitted by the president maintains the status quo.

"This is sufficient for the effective processing of this presidential initiative in the Polish parliament in September. The same applies to the support for securing Ukrainian government data," he wrote on social media platform X.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gavkowski criticized Nawrocki for the veto, claiming that it would lead to the shutdown of Starlink provided by Poland to Ukraine.

"Nawrocki's decision effectively shuts down internet access (Starlink – ed.) in Ukraine, as it pertains to the law regarding aid for Ukrainian citizens. This means the end of Starlink services provided by Poland to a war-torn Ukraine," he stated on social media.

Reports indicate that Starlink terminals became available in Ukraine in late February 2022. Since then, Ukraine has received over 50,000 terminals, with nearly 30,000 funded by Poland, according to Ukrainian Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

Nawrocki announced on August 25 that he did not sign the amendment to the aid law for Ukrainian citizens, which proposed extending social benefits for refugees until March 2026.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the veto, but his government lacks the two-thirds majority in parliament needed to override this decision.

Later, spokesperson for the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs Marek Georgica stated that starting from October 1, Poland will not be able to fund the Starlink subscription for Ukraine due to the president's veto.
