Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with representatives of the international parliamentary network United for Ukraine (U4U).
The head of state expressed gratitude to the United for Ukraine members for their continuous political support for Ukraine during the war.
«We are counting on your support even after the war ends. We hope for peace as soon as possible. However, not everything depends solely on us, on Europe and Ukraine. It's essential that peace is just and lasting. We will also welcome your countries' participation in rebuilding our nation,» emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President noted that a unified voice and common stance from Europe are crucial at this time. He thanked for the support of Ukraine on its path to European Union membership. The parties discussed mechanisms for opening the first negotiation cluster this year, stressing that Ukraine must become an EU member.
Key topics of the meeting included security guarantees for Ukraine. The head of state highlighted that Ukraine, together with partners in Europe and the USA, is working on the architecture of security guarantees. Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out the importance of defense support, joint weapon production, including drones, technology exchanges, and partners' guarantees on land, air, and sea.
They also discussed the outcomes of the meeting between the President of Ukraine and other European leaders with the President of the United States in Washington. The head of state noted Ukraine's readiness for various negotiation formats to achieve peace, both bilaterally and trilaterally with leaders from Ukraine, the USA, and Russia.
Additionally, they talked about mechanisms for utilizing frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's reconstruction.
The meeting involved representatives from the parliaments of Austria, Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldova, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Finland, France, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Sweden, and the European Parliament.
