As of now, experts indicate that the Russians lack the necessary technological capabilities to operate the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
This was stated by Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk during the presentation of the government's action program.
"According to both IAEA experts and our assessments, we do not see any technological possibilities to connect (the NPP to the Russian energy system). The station remains inactive and is powered by Ukraine's energy grid," Hrynchuk said.
She also noted that the fires reported in August occurred outside the occupied facility. However, as long as the site is under Russian control, there remains a threat to nuclear safety.
Hrynchuk emphasized that following the de-occupation of the NPP, a significant amount of expert work will be required to evaluate the condition of the facility. Only after that can solutions be developed to restore its operations.
