The Israeli military-political cabinet approved a strategy for controlling the city of Gaza on the morning of August 8.
This was reported by Reuters.
According to the statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office: "The Israel Defense Forces will prepare to establish control over the city of Gaza while providing humanitarian assistance to the civilian population outside of combat zones".
The agency notes that this came just hours after Netanyahu declared that Israel intends to take military control over the entire strip, despite increasing criticism both domestically and internationally regarding the devastating war that has been ongoing for nearly two years.
