The contracting procedures for the production of 100 new passenger cars for "Ukrzaliznytsia" have been completed.
This was reported by the press service of the company.
"The company has signed a contract with the domestic manufacturer PJSC "Kryukov Railcar Works" for the procurement of new model passenger cars with innovative technical and planning solutions that conform to gauge T. A total of 100 new passenger cars have been ordered this year under the budget program," the message states.
The cars from the latest contracted batch will be able to serve for 20 years longer, with extended maintenance intervals and requiring less servicing personnel, reports UZ.
Within the overall order of 100 cars, a pilot batch of 5 new generation cars will feature modern management systems, nearly 80% longer service life, and accommodate more passengers – up to 44 in a single coupe (+10% compared to standard cars).
The new cars will have an increased body width and improved design with longer sleeping spaces up to 2.2 m. The pneumatic suspension, a first for Ukrainian sleeping cars, will guarantee additional smoothness of movement and reduce car oscillation during travel. Automatic sliding doors and level floor inter-car passages will enhance passenger comfort.
This type of car will transition from coal heating to fully electric heating with advanced individual temperature control in each coupe. The modern system will allow climate control to be used even during long train stops.
The service life of these cars will be 50 years due to the use of stainless steel for the bodies. This is 20 years longer than for standard Ukrzaliznytsia cars.
Five new generation passenger cars ordered as part of the total contract of 100 will be capable of transforming into SV-type cars. One car will be inclusive and equipped with an electric lift, ramp for high platforms, and an expanded coupe for passengers with disabilities using wheelchairs.
"The cost of purchasing one passenger car is about 95 million UAH. The price of the car with a coupe for transporting passengers with disabilities is 98.3 million UAH. However, considering the significantly (by 80%) longer useful life of the car and greater maintenance intervals, the purchase of new generation cars is more economical and efficient than buying standard cars," the message states.
The delivery time for the cars is 2.5 years from the moment of receiving the prepayment by the manufacturer for the production of the cars (this includes the necessary certification procedures for the new generation cars). With additional funding from the State Budget, Ukrzaliznytsia will be able to continue expanding its fleet renewal program, particularly increasing the share of new generation cars.
