During the Sunday prayer at St. Peter's Square, Pope Leo XIV specifically addressed pilgrims from Ukraine.

According to Vatican News, he stated: «Peace is the fundamental desire of all nations, and a painful plea of those suffering from war. Let us pray to the Lord that He might touch the hearts and inspire the minds of our leaders to renounce violence and choose dialogue instead».

Welcoming the pilgrims, the Holy Father emphasized that their journey to the Holy Doors in the «great heat of this season» is truly brave. The Pope also acknowledged different groups of believers, particularly the Greek-Catholic pilgrims from Ukraine, who responded with loud applause.

He then addressed English-speaking pilgrims, expressing condolences to families affected by the floods in Texas.

On Thursday, July 3, Pope Leo XIV visited a children's camp in the Vatican, where children from Ukraine were also present.
