Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a significant meeting with U.S. senators Jeanne Shaheen and Chris Coons.
The head of state expressed gratitude for the bipartisan support and emphasized that Ukrainians truly appreciate the assistance from the Senate and the House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress.
Shaheen and Coons assured continued support for Ukraine and praised the resilience of Ukrainian defenders.
The President highlighted that Ukraine values the defense assistance from the United States and is ready to work on acquiring necessary means for protecting its citizens, primarily air defense systems. Additionally, Ukraine is open to defense co-production with the U.S., as it possesses unique specialists and experience. This collaboration could be beneficial for America.
Volodymyr Zelensky also noted that our country is fundamentally committed to the peace process and supports the initiative of U.S. President Donald Trump for an unconditional ceasefire, which would pave the way for establishing a just and lasting peace.
The head of state emphasized that Russia does not seek genuine peace, as evidenced by recent Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and civilians. Therefore, there is a need for pressure on Russia that will prevent them from expanding their production of terror-related means. The President thanked the senators for supporting the bill on new stringent sanctions from the United States against Russia.
Furthermore, during the meeting, the discussion included the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine and future joint efforts and collaborations under the economic partnership agreement between Ukraine and the U.S.
