Four individuals in Ukraine have had their academic degrees revoked due to identified plagiarism in their dissertations.

This decision was made by the Accreditation Board of the Ministry of Education during a meeting on April 25, as reported by the agency.

This body is responsible for the final determination of academic degrees based on the findings of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

The individuals affected include:

Oleg Mishchenko, who had his candidate degree in economic sciences revoked in the specialty of "Economics and Management of National Economy".

Plagiarism was found in his dissertation titled "Activating the Innovative-Investment Development of the Food Industry in Ukraine", which contained significant similarities to a 2015 monograph by Victoria Hubina.

Mykola Kolyadynskyi, whose candidate degree in technical sciences specializing in "Environmental Safety" was revoked.

His dissertation "Management of Environmental Safety of Soils and Groundwater in the Vicinity of Landfills", defended in 2013, also exhibited plagiarism.

Andrii Zabolotnyi, who lost his candidate degree in public administration in the specialty of "Theory and History of Public Administration".

His dissertation on "Legal Regulation of Professional Activity in the Public Service: Public-Management Aspect" was defended in 2021.

Roksana Chupryna had her candidate degree in medical sciences revoked in the specialty of "Obstetrics and Gynecology".

Her dissertation on preventing menopausal disorders in women with benign, unspecified tumors was defended in 2015.

"All decisions were made unanimously, indicating consensus," noted Deputy Minister of Education Denys Kurbatov.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning that in 2024, no scholar in Ukraine was deprived of their academic degree over plagiarism suspicions.
