On the eve of Christmas, Ukrainians are sharing warmth and hope, passing a beacon of light that unites hearts across the nation.

In Ukraine, a longstanding tradition continues: scouts have been spreading the Bethlehem Flame of Peace for nearly 40 years, moving it from community to community. This year, the flame has arrived in Kyiv, from where it will begin its journey through the cities and villages of Ukraine.

This year, the flame will travel by Ukrzaliznytsia trains — for the fifth year in a row, railway workers are joining this initiative, helping to deliver the symbol of light to numerous locations.

This was reported by Ukrzaliznytsia.

«Thanks to the railway routes, the flame from the Holy City reaches even the most remote corners of Ukraine quickly and safely. Traditional first meetings occur at train stations: scouts bring lanterns, hand them over to passengers and local communities, and from there, the flame continues its journey — as a sign of peace, faith, and support,» the statement reads.

Every year, the Bethlehem Flame symbolizes unity and resilience among Ukrainians. Especially now, amidst new challenges and trials, it reminds us of the power of light that conquers darkness.
