On December 4, the Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University hosted a charity auction dedicated to the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The event showcased unique handmade items created by students, faculty, and alumni, including paintings, photographs, books, handcrafted dolls, wooden products, and printed publications.
Everyone had the opportunity to purchase their favorite items and contribute to the support of Ukrainian defenders. Representatives from all structural divisions of the university participated in the event, which raised a total of 103,015 hryvnias.
Acting rector, Alexander Turuntsev, thanked participants for their engagement and emphasized that supporting the military is a crucial part of the university's mission.
“We are sincerely grateful to all defenders of Ukraine. The strength, courage, and heroism you have shown will be remembered for a lifetime. You have given us the chance to work, study, and live in relative peace. We will do everything in our power to support your recovery,” said Alexander Turuntsev.
During the event, the Kyiv University awarded honors for “Service to Humanity, Community, and Society” to three students who balance their education with service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
David Vehera, a first-year student in the “Physical Therapy, Ergotherapy” program, received an award for his service in the National Guard of Ukraine. Dmitry Lemsky, a first-year student in the “Physical Education” program, volunteered for the Armed Forces at the onset of the full-scale invasion and currently serves in the 241st separate territorial defense brigade. Dmitry Grigor-Zhvaniya, a first-year student majoring in “Organization Management,” received recognition for his role as a machine gunner, defending Kyiv and participating in combat operations in Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions.
The university collective expressed special gratitude to veterans undergoing physical rehabilitation at Hrinchenko University, highlighting the importance of the project aimed at restoring their physical and psychological well-being.
