Couple in Germany Sentenced to Life for Ukrainian Murders

The court determined that the couple intended to pass off one of the victims' child as their own and deemed their guilt particularly grave.

This ruling makes parole after 15 years virtually impossible.

However, the decision can still be appealed.

At the beginning of the trial, both the man and woman confessed to the crime.

They murdered two Ukrainians to seize the newborn child.

Key Facts about the Murder of Ukrainians in Germany

In March this year, near the town of Hockenheim on the banks of the Rhine, the body of 27-year-old Margarita Razaz from Kharkiv was discovered. She lived in a refugee center with her mother and newborn daughter. The girl, Mia, was soon found.

Her grandmother, 51-year-old Marina Stetsenko, was initially reported missing and later found dead in a lake near Bad Schönborn.

The suspects in the case are a 43-year-old Russian woman and a 44-year-old German man. According to the investigation, they killed the mother and grandmother of the girl to take the child for themselves. The criminals lured the refugees by promising to help them with their documents in Germany.
