The Ukrainian community in Vienna organized memorial events to mark the third anniversary of the killing of prisoners of war at the Volnovakha Correctional Colony No. 120.
The event, hosted by the Unlimited Democracy association, took place at a popular tourist square near St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Activists set up empty chairs as a tribute to each fallen Ukrainian soldier from the terrorist attack, displaying their names, call signs, birth dates, and the common date of death – July 29, 2022. An informational stand about the terrorist act committed by the Russians was also present.
Another memorial event occurred the day before near the Vienna State Opera. Organized by the Mrija association, this event aimed to honor the memory of those who died in Olenivka and to highlight the importance of freeing all Ukrainian prisoners. Numerous posters featured the slogan "Gefangenschaft tötet" (German for "Captivity kills") alongside calls for the release of the "Azov" fighters.
