Latvia has decided to allocate an additional 125,000 euros for the restoration of energy facilities in Ukraine and to ensure their stability. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine following a meeting between Andriy Sybiga and Baiba Braže in Kyiv.
"The heads of the foreign ministries focused on supporting Ukraine's energy system in preparation for winter. The Ukrainian side expressed gratitude to Latvia for the financial contribution of 125,000 euros, which will assist in restoring energy facilities, ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply, and stabilizing the energy system," – stated the MFA.
Sybiga emphasized deep gratitude to Latvia for its unwavering support of Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale invasion, including annual military assistance amounting to 0.25% of Latvia's GDP. The overall aid has already exceeded 1.6% of Latvia's GDP.
"This includes weapons, ammunition, training for servicemen, and financial support. We are also thankful to Latvia for joining PURL and for the recent transfer of 42 PATRIA 6x6 armored personnel carriers," – added the minister.
Additionally, Sybiga thanked Latvia for its efforts in rebuilding critical and civil infrastructure in the Chernihiv region and for the opportunity for Ukrainian children to rest in Latvia. The interlocutors discussed the implementation of this year's projects in Chernihiv region, with a total amount of 5.7 million euros, as well as prospects and priorities for the upcoming year.
