Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced successful negotiations with the IMF regarding a new financial support program. She shared this information on social media.
"The International Monetary Fund mission led by Mr. Gavin Gray has concluded its work in Kyiv with positive results" - noted Svyrydenko.
The total amount of the program will be $8.2 billion over four years. This program aims to finance critical expenditures, maintain macro-financial stability, and attract additional external support, which is crucial for us in the coming years.
"This agreement still requires approval from the IMF Board of Executive Directors", - emphasized Svyrydenko.
She also underscored that the IMF has confirmed the resilience of the Ukrainian economy despite the challenges faced in energy and infrastructure. "The economy is functioning, and Ukraine demonstrates its capability to manage risks and maintain stability under the most difficult conditions", - she stated.
Additionally, the government has prepared the budget for 2026 in line with the framework of the new IMF program, focusing on the efficiency of each hryvnia spent. "We are counting on the support of the lawmakers during the approval of the state budget project as a whole", - Svyrydenko said.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted that the country continues its reform agenda. "Our priorities remain unchanged: macroeconomic stability, debt sustainability, transparency, and strong institutions. We are committed to implementing policies to combat the shadow economy, fight corruption, and enhance governance in the public sector. In particular, the corporate governance overhaul in state-owned enterprises is ongoing, and the competition for the customs chief position continues", - she stated.
