On April 1, the European Commission transferred a new tranche to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility program.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, according to "European Truth".
The EU Commission allocated €3.5 billion to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility. Shmyhal emphasized that these funds will help maintain the country's macroeconomic stability.
"The EU Commission acknowledged our commitment to implementing reforms on our path to full EU membership," he stated.
The Prime Minister noted that the total financial assistance under the Ukraine Facility has reached €19.6 billion.
Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that of the €3.5 billion received, €3.1 billion are concessional loans, and €400 million are grant funds. These funds will help cover essential budget expenditures.
According to her, the financing was received after Ukraine met all the requirements of the Plan for the fourth quarter of 2024, which includes 13 indicators – harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with European norms, enhancing digital transformation, and energy independence.
"Last year we achieved 36 indicators. For the first time in Ukraine's history, we met all the annual indicators set for the reform program. This year's goal is even more ambitious – to meet 56," she added.
It is worth noting that in 2024, the G7 agreed to provide Ukraine a loan of $50 billion funded by Russian assets: the funds will be formally provided as a loan but will be repaid from the income generated by frozen Russian assets.
On March 20, the European Commission transferred an additional tranche of €1 billion to Ukraine.
On the same day, European Commission Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis stated that the EU would continue financial support for Ukraine in 2025 from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets and as part of the Ukraine Facility plan.
The Ukraine Facility program, which came into effect on March 1, 2024, provides for up to €50 billion in stable financing in the form of grants and loans to support the recovery, reconstruction, and modernization of Ukraine from 2024 to 2027.
