In March 2025, Ukraine saw an 11% rise in electricity imports compared to February, reaching 272,000 MWh.
This information is reported by the specialized publication ExPro.
According to the publication, Hungary became the largest supplier, providing 42% of the imported electricity.
Other contributions included: 19% from Slovakia, 18% from Poland, 16% from Romania, and the remainder from Moldova.
The increase in imports was noted across all directions except Slovakia. Meanwhile, on an annual basis (up to March 2024), imports decreased by nearly 40%.
In March, Ukraine also doubled its electricity exports to 76,300 MWh. This was made possible by increased generation from solar power plants during daylight hours, resulting in a surplus in the energy system.
Reminder:
In February, Ukraine imported 511.8 million cubic meters of natural gas, marking the highest monthly volume in 1.5 years since September 2023. Compared to January, gas import volumes surged twelvefold.
