A new terminal for grain handling is set to open at "Pivdennyi" port in 2026, with a capacity of 5 million tons per year.

This has been reported by Latifundist.com.

The "Epicenter" group, in collaboration with the family of MP Anatolii Urban'skyi, is planning to build a grain terminal in the port. The projected annual cargo turnover is 5 million tons, with storage capacity of 250,000 tons, as noted by the website.

In 2025, "Casablanca Shipping Limited" from Cyprus, founded by "Epicenter K", acquired 32.61% of "Promtekhinnovatsiya" in Odesa. The remaining shares are owned by Ihor Urban'skyi, along with his children, Kateryna and Denys Urban'skyi, according to the publication.

As per last year's project, "Promtekhinnovatsiya" is leasing land plots in the water area of "Pivdennyi" port and near the local road T1606. The total area designated for construction is about 32 hectares.

This area is sufficient for establishing a station for unloading from railcars and trucks, after which the grain will be transported via a gallery to the silos and terminal.

Plans include building a railway station with a capacity of up to 3 million tons per year, capable of handling up to five freight trains daily. The land area for this station will be 10 hectares. The project also includes unloading stations for both railcars and trucks.

A conveyor gallery, connecting the unloading station with the main elevators, will be 1600 meters long and have a capacity of 1200 tons per hour. The grain will be stored in approximately 50 silos with a total capacity of 250,000 tons, occupying a 10-hectare site.

The project also foresees the construction of a pier up to 350 meters long and 16 meters deep. Two cranes will be responsible for handling agricultural products, with a capacity of 1500 tons per hour. The equipment for unloading, transportation, storage, and handling of grain will be owned by "Promtekhinnovatsiya".

According to port operators familiar with the construction process, the project is progressing well. The terminal is scheduled to launch in 2026, and despite technical complexities, the construction will be completed on time.

Several sources indicate that the idea of building such a terminal represents a strong alliance between two businesses: a large agribusiness with its own grain and significant turnover and a family of entrepreneurs with access to maritime resources but without agricultural production.

The agricultural assets of the largest non-food retailer in the country, "Epicenter K", are consolidated under the "Epicenter Agro" network, which has been actively developing since 2015, as noted by Latifundist.com.

During this time, the holding has increased its land bank to 170,000 hectares, elevator capacities to 2 million tons, and its own agricultural production to 1 million tons. This year, it also launched its own trading. To create a flow of grain from the field to foreign consumers, the companies only need to build their own grain handling facility.
