Due to a death threat, the young woman was forced to comply with the criminal's demands. The police quickly located and apprehended him. He faces up to fifteen years in prison.
The Kyiv police received a call on the emergency line 102 from a 23-year-old woman reporting an attack in the Darnytsia district. Investigators and operational staff were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Officers learned that the attacker had been following the victim as she walked to work. In a deserted area, he suddenly grabbed her by the neck and pressed a gun to her back. Threatening her, the criminal forced the woman to hand over her money.
Thanks to the efforts of investigators and analysts, the attacker was located and apprehended within thirty minutes under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He turned out to be a 26-year-old man from the Chernihiv region, who had recently moved to Kyiv in search of work. The police confiscated part of the stolen money and a toy gun that he had used for intimidation. He had already spent some of the money on personal expenses.
Investigators, under the guidance of the Darnytsia District Prosecutor's Office, informed the suspect of charges under Part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – robbery committed under martial law. By court order, he will be held in custody during the pre-trial investigation, with the sanction of the article allowing for up to fifteen years of imprisonment and property confiscation.
