A businessman with three young children, who had the ability to travel abroad, promised a local resident to transport him to the border in the trunk of his car for a fee, allowing him to cross into another country on foot. He now faces up to nine years in prison.
Investigators from the Pechersk Police Department, along with officers from the Cybercrime Unit in Kyiv and under the supervision of the Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office, uncovered the illegal activities of a 37-year-old Kyiv entrepreneur who organized the illegal transport of conscripted men to neighboring countries.
The perpetrator found «clients» among his acquaintances and promised them illegal border crossing for a fee of $4,000. He planned to transport a conscripted man to the border with Romania, hiding him among the luggage in the minibus, after which the «client» was to cross the border on foot.
Law enforcement detained the offender in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while he was receiving part of the payment - $2,000, which he received from the client for the «service».
The man has been charged under Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – organizing the illegal transport of individuals across the state border of Ukraine for selfish motives. The sanction of the article provides for up to nine years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
