A young man, influenced by enemy directives, decided to set fire to military vehicles. However, not finding any, he ended up igniting three civilian cars instead. He now faces a possible sentence of up to ten years in prison.
Investigators discovered that the young man found an internet advertisement offering «work» related to vehicle arson in Kyiv for a specified fee and contacted an anonymous «employer». He received clear instructions from the «curator» regarding which vehicles to target.
Following the enemy's orders, the young man arrived at a garage cooperative near a gas station in the Obolon district in search of military cars. Finding none, he opted to burn civilian vehicles instead.
The offender doused parked Mercedes-Benz and BMW cars with flammable liquid and set them on fire. As a result of the arson, two cars were completely destroyed, and a Hyundai was partially damaged.
Law enforcement officers, along with forensic specialists, identified the 18-year-old suspect from Kyiv Oblast and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators from the Obolon police department, under the procedural guidance of the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office, informed the suspect of charges under Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional destruction of someone else's property by arson. The sanctions for this article provide for imprisonment of up to ten years.
The police reiterates — the enemy continues to exert pressure in the information space and incite citizens to commit crimes. Stay vigilant and do not follow illegal directives. Report any suspicious offers immediately to the police at 102.
